Changes occurs when you nurture your soul in baby steps. Sounds so easy, to change your life, then why are we all not doing it? Because the subconscious mind cannot move outside its fixed programs – it automatically reacts to situations with its previously stored behavior responses. I like to refer to it as "default". It works without the knowledge or control of the conscious mind. This is why we are generally unaware of our behavior, in fact most of the time we are not even aware that we are acting unconsciously.
Studies from as far back as the seventies show that our brains begin to prepare for action just over a third of a second before we consciously decide to act. In other words, even when we ‘think’ we are conscious, it is our unconscious mind which is actually making our decisions for us. And it seems the unconscious mind is running us on its automatic pilot mode, 95% of the time! Neuroscientists have shown that the conscious mind provides 5% or less of our conscious activity during the day – and 5% they say is for the more aware people, many people operate at just 1% consciousness.
Therefore, to have a great life, we must learn to tune into our subconscious, to feed our consciousness, it is necessary to learn meditation.
I have learned through my meditation classes most people in the Western World have a hard time learning how to meditate. The majority of the population get better results with guided meditation at first.
As you’ve probably already heard, meditation has many benefits. Every day, researchers find new ways in which meditation will change your life:
- Lower stress
- Improved relationships
- Better health
- Better cognitive abilities
- Greater creativity
- Greater sense of purpose
- Greater emotional stability
There are many other reasons why one might meditate, to learn from your higher self, to cleanse and purify thoughts and emotions, to travel along one's spiritual path, to help one bring about changes in their life, to gain control over one's thoughts and feelings and how they are expressed, and to delve deep within oneself to discover and explore one's innermost being. These are just a few examples of what one may accomplish through meditation.
Some people use crystals and stones to assist in obtaining a deep meditative state.
